After discovering a post in the TopSecretRecipes subreddit where one user asked which of the subreddit's trove of copycat recipes are most authentic, there was one simple recipe that caught my attention: Kentucky Fried Chicken's coleslaw.
I tried making the recipe, which one Redditor described as "amazing" and "exactly like the original," and I'd have to agree. It was darn good coleslaw. And yes, it tasted just like KFC's version, which I learned is something people swing by their KFC drive-thru for, to take home a pint or two for parties.

09/29/2020 - Jay Hadley8:30 today which is the 28th of September went to Maryland Fried Chicken ordered around $18 worth of chicken coleslaw. The coleslaw was edible. The chicken was overcooked small hell I thought it was Dove when I first opened the box. I mean you could not eat the skin it was so hard. It was one of the worst meals I have had and Bainbridge

This is how my family members make fried chicken, too, and I vastly prefer it to the heavily-coated southern fried chicken. I am surprised Royal Farms doesn't make theirs more like this since they're a Maryland company, although presumably it's much more time-consuming to pan fry than to deep fry, so I guess that wouldn't work in a convenience store. Most older American cookbooks have Maryland friend chicken recipes, and I've seen it on many vintage menus, too.
