Yup, this happens to me too. I would like to say that it seems to have something to do with compressed images and dolphin not being able to read them. I am not a coder or anything but I have read multiple people's opinions on it and that seems to be the main problem.


PPL this is a DUPLICATE issue of 2197 ! Link to that issue is -emu/issues/detail?id=2197 please see that report for this bug. A link to the source changlelog in that build is -emu/source/detail?r=56ccfc5d9d4defb308e02a71d201aee9eef0a76e In it you will see that the issue has been addressed in the tex-preload build on git source. As surprising as it may sound Dolphin Netplay has been around since the emulator went open source. For roughly a decade, users have tried their hand at taming the beast of synchronizing multiple instances of a GameCube and Wii despite their relative complexities. Dolphin started solely as a GameCube emulator, focused only on the one console. But, when the Wii was released and it was discovered to have hardware almost identical to its older sibling, Dolphin naturally evolved into a GameCube and Wii emulator. All of our readers are probably familiar with this. However, many people don't know that there is yet another console based on the GameCube, one which Dolphin has emulated - the Triforce. An arcade system board developed in a joint partnership between the three powerhouses Namco, Sega, and Nintendo, the Triforce used the GameCube hardware as the heart of many arcade games. Mario Kart GP and GP2, F-Zero AX, along with many other titles headline the Triforce's release library.


This month, Dolphin developers have removed Triforce emulation as one of Dolphin's notable features by removing the ability to use the AM-Baseboard, which was the key to activating Dolphin's Triforce features. After months of discussion, it was determined that while Dolphin should be able to emulate Triforce titles, there simply isn't anyone around to maintain and update the Triforce code. It was implemented in a different time and more or less bruteforces the Triforce games into working in Dolphin without much care into how it fits in and interfaces with the rest of the emulator. A branch still exists that is capable of booting many Triforce games for those interested in playing them.


Ten years ago Dolphin was a very limited program designed to run in only one environment. It was a 32-bit Windows application that required Direct3D 9 with no alternatives. A lot of things have changed since then as Dolphin has expanded its goals. The emulator has become much more robust over time with support added for 64-bit Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and even Android phones and tablets!


The emulation quality must improve first. So far Nintendo has yet to design an emulator as good as the ones available on the internet. N64 emulation should include widescreen, hd resolutions, anti aliasong, and texture filtering. GameCube games should be remastered. We already have Dolphin for GC and Wii games. Nothing Nintendo would make could rival Dolphin.


@LeRaposa considering its ability to buy Wii games on eShop, perhaps. But outside Wii eShop? And in the case of emulators found on the internet? Nintendo allows modern gamers to own the games and play them legally without giving an arm and a leg for increasingly vintage cartridges (even DS games can cost a pretty penny nowadays - people complain about full prices for actual official remasters and new facelifts like USF2, but you can get charged 60+ bucks for the original Pokemon Diamond on Amazon!). A chance to buy retro games without being an arduous and rich physical media collector is worth a good bit if you ask me.


@StuTwo Yeah, I agree: The odds of Nintendo actually doing it are close to nil. I also agree about the Wii U NES emulator too; it was a pile of crap. Man, Nintendo really has dropped the ball on what could have been a game-changing services and USP of its systems. It started off great on Wii but rather than get better with each new console it just go worse. Who knows what it's going to be like on the Switch, but the expectations aren't high, sadly.


@thesilverbrick I'm a bit unsure why there would need to be so much (re)development, after all the Dolphin emulator seems to be able to run many Gamecube/Wii games, not perfectly - but then NIntendo's VC is hardly perfect!Perhaps Nintendo should just buy up Dolphin, then get that running on the Switch, problem solved! I'm getting fed up of seeing weekly NeoGeo releases on the Switch. Nintendo should by now have figured out how to get at least some past Nintendo games on its own console, and at a much better rate than the Wii & WiiU! 2ff7e9595c
